RESEARCH RECOMMENDATIONS
Environmental Working Group
A fantastic non-profit, running for over 20 years, that fights for these nasty chemicals to be removed from our nutrition, our cosmetics, and other materials. They have an absurd amount of research that is a research-addicts’ dream.
You can find nearly any item and product available on the marketplace in their guides and research, and they give the product an EWG rating for it’s toxicity. We highly recommend them!
Center for Science in the Public Interest
A great resource for healthier foods specifically, with guides, recipes, and reports on nutritional values if you would like to read more into this. Although we recommend to eat red meat, and they don’t recommend it, this is still a great resource to learn the detriments of ultra-processed foods, sugars and other ingredients commonly in our diets.
Made Safe
A licensing company for several categories of safe, healthy alternative products. They provide all the products they have provided certifications for and we hope to connect with these companies in the future so you can purchase their products with ease.
Silent Spring Institute
A research website dedicated to environmental toxicity and women’s health, including exposing the connections between toxic chemical exposure and cancer’s. Fantastic work, they even provide internships for students and recent graduates for conducting research in toxicology.
Campaign for Safe Cosmetics
Another great resource specifically for skincare and cosmetic products. They provide lists for what to watch out for, a Red List for toxic ingredients and consistently advocate for healthier alternatives!
The Cornucopia Institute
In their research section, you can find some awesome resources regarding brand lists and ownership of those brands, including the major mega-brands and who actually owns most of the ‘organic’ food (this is precisely why we recommend finding your own local farmer).
In which - Ian Carrol @ https://cancelthisclothingcompany.com has some great resources in the form of excel spreadsheets that detail ownership by megacorps and family/founder-owned businesses for a variety of skincare, hygiene and food alternatives.
